Inspired by Carlo Collodi’s classic tale Pinocchio, PIN asks what it takes to feel real when you struggle to relate to others.

The Story

For Joe, life is grim. It’s not the dirt, the smog, or the fact that charismatic-TV-despot Zander Zoodle has almost complete control over everything in Spinopolis, it’s that in a city of millions there’s not one soul who notices that Joe even exists.

Lonely as hell, he looks to his own inventions for company. They don’t exactly give warm hugs, but his latest invention, the Personal Industry Neurobot (PIN), promises to be his perfectly obedient companion.

When PIN comes to life Joe has to reckon with the chaos and responsibilities of fatherhood, and realise how much he has to learn about living from the boy he made.

    Characters

    Joe Puzzi

Thirtyish. Meek, anxious, too brainy for his own good. His fussy systems keep him safe but lonely.

    PIN

A robot boy made from spare parts. Wildly curious, painfully naive, absorbing the world at super speed.

    Zander Zoodle

Thirtyish. A terrifying cross between a marshmallow and a clown, with an unhinged darkness behind the fluff.

    Tina de la Fontaine

Thirtyish. Riddled with self-doubt, brimming with unrealised potential. Secretly the smartest person in the room.

    Key

A street urchin who dresses in rags but speaks like royalty. Her bravado hides a life with no one in her corner.

    Spinopolans

Builders, gardeners, sweepers, a hapless sergeant, Zoodle’s producers and The Jingleers.
